Kendrick Lamar is a huge rap star since his debut album good kid, Madd city was met with critical acclaim. Before K.Dot rhymed about poetic justice, he started from the bottom just like every aspiring rapper. Recently (thanks Internet), K. Dot’s 2003 debut mixtape, Hub City Threat, Minor of the Year, just surfaced that shows the young 16-year-old in action.
Even as K.Dot wasn’t a household name yet, his mixtape was evidence of his talents. Here, he raps over Lil Wayne’s “Go DJ,” dedicates a song to his hometown in “Compton Life,” and spits alongside seasoned veterans like Joe Budden and Freeway. Athough three tracks are missing, we still have 11 good ones to get a sense of his promising career.

It’s official my new mixtape is finally OUT! I have been putting it together since February, and it’s finally HERE! With nothing but 100% exclusives, I am very proud of the final product. I wanna give a big shout out and thank you to all of the talented artists and producers that allowed me to have there creations on my first mixtape. The point of this tape is to kind of make a statement, that statement is that the “Bootleg Kev” name and brand is on it’s way to doing big things. Here is the first official leak from my upcoming mixtape/street release Empire Business, which is dropping April 7th (Wrestlemania Sunday). The tape features the likes of Freddie Gibbs, Rittz, Yelawolf, Jon Connor, Emilio Rojas, Chance The Rapper, Vic Mensa, Clyde Carson, Tito Lopez and many more. This first leak comes from Inland Empire’s own Audio Push. This is a group who I have been supporting for a long time now. They are finally growing into their own as artists and the world is noticing! They are a part of Hit-Boy’s HS87 collective and are truly a talented and dope duo of MC’s. When putting this project together Audio Push was one of the first groups I reached out to. They quickly hit the lab and whipped this song up for Empire Business. The song came out incredible.
